While there is a much greater risk of losing property under Chapter 7, it is very possible to keep items like your home and car. A good bankruptcy lawyer will help you file for bankruptcy while giving up the least amount of property.
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a reorganization of debt. A trustee, appointed by the court, develops a debt repayment plan based on your financial situation — usually taking place over the course of three to five years. In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, I will argue your interests before the appointed trustee to ensure a fair payment plan.
